At the heart of our rugby club, stories of commitment and dedication abound, but few resonate as deeply as Francisco López’s. As the father of two players in the S14 and S16 categories and the delegate for the S16 team, Francisco has found in volunteering a way to strengthen the bond with his children and contribute to the development of the sports community.

A Committed Father

Francisco’s relationship with the club began as a companion to his children, but he soon became a key figure for the S16 team. His decision to take on the role of delegate was motivated by the club’s need and the desire for his daughter Carmen, in her first year with the team, to have a familiar figure nearby. “They told me they needed people, and I saw an opportunity to support not only my children but the group as a whole,” he says.

Suggestions to Improve Volunteering

While Francisco speaks positively of his experience, he also suggests some improvements to make volunteering more accessible to new club members. “For those of us unfamiliar with the club and rugby, having a mentor or reference point would be very helpful. Iván, for example, has helped me a lot, albeit ‘unofficially.’ Even so, I still don’t know much about the club’s organizational structure,” he explains.

A Call to the Community

To those considering joining as volunteers, Francisco has a clear message: “It’s a very fun and enriching experience. It allows for close contact with the kids and provides a deeper understanding of both the game and the world of rugby in Catalonia.” His enthusiasm and dedication are an inspiring example for those looking to contribute to the club and the sport.

Francisco López’s story is a reminder of the positive impact volunteering can have on our lives and communities. From his role as a delegate to his ideas for enhancing the experience for new volunteers, Francisco is a living example of how passion and commitment can make a difference.
